METAESPACIOS is a real-time virtual performance, winner of the National Contest for Performative Activities in Virtual Environments (2020).
Hakim Bey says about the Temporary Autonomous Zone: "Now the lines are not all drawn in space-time. Some exist only on the Web, even if they intersect with real times and places."
Our construction of the concept of space was restructured by the quarantine: the need to create place within places grew in a fractal way. Inside and outside now look more like an elastic fog of meaning than like a tangible space.
METAESPACIOS creates a space made of fragments of other spaces, of other outsides, inhabiting an inside that is less and less recognizable. Built from pixels, the space is inhabited with its digital particularities: prone to collapse, to failure, to delay.
The work happens as a YouTube Live stream. Viewers watch the space where the performer lives become more and more unreal, and become part of its context through the chat, in a real-time conversation about what we call space.
