Juan Austral is the musical and sound project of Juan Martinez Garcia: soundscapes, Ambient, Lo-Fi and Downtempo.
My bond with music creation began as an extension of my main practice in Dance and the Performing Arts: in Buenos Aires I edited sound mixes for stage works and worked as a VJ in an audiovisual project with DJs.
In 2019, living in Valparaíso, I started a self-taught path in music production, from Ambient, Lo-Fi Hip-Hop and Downtempo. My first project was ROMANCE, with rhythmic and ambient mixtures. By early 2020 I had already made more than twenty pieces and, with the pandemic, I plunged into Ambient and Dark Ambient.
That process led to SALVATAJE, my first solo album, conceived individually and self-taught: an introspective journey into the most sensitive zones of human experience, in search of what holds us up from our unbreakable fragility. Since 2021 the project has been called Juan Austral.
Today music coexists with Dance and Performance, and opens collaboration platforms with artists from other disciplines. In 2023 and 2024 I took part in the production of ARCANO.
