ECORRELACIÓN
FIG. 001 — Software interface: ECORRELACIÓN — ARQUEOLOGÍA DE FUTURO · Museo Casa del Poeta, Merlo, 2026

// Description

ECORRELACIÓN is an interactive installation that brings nature and technology into dialogue, with the human as intermediary, to discover what new natural forms can be born from fusing elements that already exist.

Can technology help us think of new natural scenarios? From present nature towards possible nature, the project was born from inhabiting the La Siempre Viva Protected Natural Area, in northern San Luis, Argentina, during the Fuera del Tiempo #2 #3 residency, and from discovering the richness and particularity that make it up.

For days I recorded shapes, textures and colours belonging to the territory to build a catalogue that would serve as the starting point of the research.

That catalogue lives inside AI-assisted software: ECORRELACIÓN — ARQUEOLOGÍA DE FUTURO (Archaeology of the Future). With a mouse resting on a pedestal, visitors choose specimens and cross them. Each fusion gives rise to a new form that inherits the name of its origins and joins a network of relations that grows on screen. The whole application renders and runs in the browser, in real time.

No combination repeats itself: each visit builds a territory of its own, shaped by whoever explores it. ECORRELACIÓN is a door to imagine and visualise a new possible landscape.

The work was exhibited at Museo Casa del Poeta (Merlo, San Luis) from 5 September to 5 October 2026, alongside works by Mariela Aquilio, Raymundo Lagresta, Clara Alsina Torres and Sofía Lopez Mañan.

«As in a futurist rapture, Juan Martínez García opens up the possibility of creating a territory of one’s own and redesigning it through AI-assisted software.»
